BROTTOPERA is a twenty-eight (28) day paid opera program dedicated to offering highly-talented emerging professional opera singers the opportunity and experience of performing with a full symphony orchestra.
As part of the 2026 Brott Music Festival, BROTTOPERA, based in Hamilton Ontario, will offer:
- Paid stipend for roles in Puccini’s LA BOHEME
- Accommodations
- Performance opportunities with full symphony orchestra
- Coaching and training experience from some of today’s top industry professionals
- Performance opportunities in an evening of arias and ensembles

Audition Information

Live Auditions
Toronto: January 16 & 17, 2026
Montreal: January 19, 2026
Edmonton: January 24, 2026
A pianist will be provided at all live auditions.
Audition/Application Requirements
- Headshot
- Two (2) references
- Your CV
- Live auditions: Provide three to five ( 3-5) arias, with at least one in Italian
- Online Auditions: Provide two (2) arias via YouTube - with at least one being in Italian
Application Fee
There is a $75 CAD non-refundable application fee payable online by MasterCard, Visa, Visa Debit or American Express when submitting an application.
Eligibility
A valid Social Insurance Number (SIN). Open to Canadian citizens, Permanent Residents and Student Visas. All applications are welcome and all auditions will be considered.
Stipend
BROTTOPERA artists are paid a stipend for their role in La Boheme. Accommodation will also be provided for the duration of program – private rooms with shared kitchen suites, housekeeping, and laundry on-site.
