HAMILTON ON—June 1st, 2020— Brott Music Festival/BrottOpera moves online.
Based upon indications from provincial authorities regarding the controlled and gradual opening up of the province it appears unlikely that we will be able to gather in any significant numbers for the months of July and August. Therefore, the Festival as advertised is postponing its in-person performances until 2021 with as much of the same programming as possible. “The safety of our patrons, artists, volunteers and staff is a top priority for us” said Executive Director Ardyth Brott.
Public performances may have been postponed but the music will go on virtually!
On May 2nd we launched Brott Music Live, a series of weekly performances, with many of our guest artists and most distinguished alumni. The Brott Music Live series will continue until June 27th on Saturday nights at 7:30pm. Starting Thursday July 2nd these performances will move to Thursday nights at 7:30pm. Performances can be viewed by clicking onto our website www.brottmusic.com and choosing either Facebook Live or Youtube. All previous performances are also available for viewing on Facebook and Youtube.
For those who have already purchased tickets for the 2020 summer season a small team of box office representatives are working remotely to contact ticket holders to discuss options such as: holding money on account for future exchanges, converting the ticket value to a donation or issuing a refund.
Regarding the National Academy Orchestra and BrottOpera: “We will continue to offer a fully comprehensive training program online; replacing the traditional rehearsals and performances with virtual alternatives; more details to follow” said Artistic Director Boris Brott.
The Brott Music Festival is Canada’s largest not-for-profit orchestral and opera music festival and theonly festival with a full-time, professional orchestra-in-residence. The Festival is renowned for its extremely high artistic standards, world class soloists, its exuberant orchestra and its eclectic mix of orchestral, opera, Broadway, chamber, jazz, pops and education concerts at various venues across Southern Ontario.
Our Festival is being presented virtually this year.
