Welcome to the Brott Music Festival

Now entering its 32nd season, the Brott Music Festival (est. 1988) is the largest non-profit orchestral music festival in Canada, and, the only festival with a full-time, professional orchestra-in-residence.

The Brott Music Festival is renowned for its extremely high artistic standard, world class soloists, its exuberant young orchestra and its eclectic mix of orchestral, chamber, jazz, pops, opera and education concerts at various venues across Southern Ontario.

We have attracted world class soloists and other artists/personalities to Hamilton, including James Ehnes, Anton Kuerti, Pinchas Zukerman, Marc Garneau, Karen Kain, Valerie Tryon, former Prime Minister Kim Campbell, Mordecai Richler, Roberta Bondar and Michael Ondaatje, to name only a few.

Introducing the National Academy Orchestra (NAO)

The National Academy Orchestra of Canada (est. 1989) provides an extraordinary opportunity for emerging young Canadian professional musicians to:

  • Work alongside professional musicians from Canada’s finest orchestras.
  • Acquire and improve their orchestral skills and repertoire.
  • Refine their auditioning prowess.
  • Learn innovative ways to become entrepreneurial in their profession.
  • Make important contacts leading to employment.

The National Academy Orchestra of Canada is Canada’s only professional training orchestra, and one of the few of its unique concept in the world. Graduates from the NAO hold, or have held positions with virtually every major orchestra across Canada and orchestras across North America and around the world.
