A little Ludwig to start the summer

Brott Music Festival celebrates Beethoven, his influences (and those influenced by him) with a three-concert event this June.

JAMES EHNES PLAYS MENDELSSOHN
JAMES EHNES violin

Sat. June 14 | Melrose United Church | 7:30 pm
Violin superstar and recent Grammy winner Ehnes returns to the Festival to open the National Academy Orchestra's 20th anniversary season. He will perform Mendelssohn's magnificent Violin Concerto in E minor - adored by performers and audiences alike since it was first performed in 1845. Boris and the National Academy Orchestra open our Beethoven Festival with the composer's Leonore Overture No. 3 and Symphony No. 4 in B flat. A wondrous evening of superb musicmaking!

THE BEETHOVEN LEGACY
SUSANNE HOU violin

Sat. June 21 | St. Christopher's, Burlington | 7:30 pm
This marvellous program celebrates the best of Beethoven's symphonic achievement and his musical influence on one of Canada's great composers. Beethoven loved nature and nowhere is it more wondrously evident than in the well-loved Symphony No. 6 in F Pastoral. Hou performs Alexander Brott's remarkable Concertino for Violin, considered the composer's finest work.
